As part of the School21 – Let’s go project, we visited Alojzij Šuštar Primary School, which operates under the Institute of St. Stanislav. There, the classroom teacher Mrs. Simona Cepin introduced us to their outdoor classroom and the activities that take place there. It is mostly used by grade level students, but of course it is also intended for subject level students for various activities.
The space dedicated to the outdoor classroom is huge, so several groups can be in the classroom at the same time. It has various corners, including a huge poplar haystack, which enables outdoor activities even in bad weather. With the help of their parents, they set up many benches and tables, tables and even a stage for theater performances. There they also have a place for many activities that take place during OPB, once a week they even prepare a stew or bake pancakes or chestnuts.
Children with their tasks can spread out in a large space and thus not disturb each other, and at the same time they can exercise in the fresh air. The weather is not an obstacle, as the parents take care of this, equipping the children with appropriate clothes and shoes.
