MULTIPLIERS IN THE KINGDOM OF THE IBEX

First, the Slovenian delegation flew to the Norwegian fjords, and now the Norwegians have flown to the Kingdom of the Ibex! With the aim of expanding outdoor learning methods throughout the entire Gorenjska region (later also throughout the whole country), the Slovenian part of the partnership in the #SCHOOL21 project organized a training for so-called “multipliers,” which took place from April 17 to 20, 2023, in Kranjska Gora.

The first day of the program was dedicated to getting to know each other and breaking down cultural barriers – personal experiences with outdoor work and the role of nature in their lives “broke the ice” of the weekly gathering.

The second and third days were devoted to a more detailed presentation of the concept of outdoor learning, 21st century competencies, and workshops on diverse topics – such as Nature as a Space for Solving “Teenage Issues,” How to Make Learning Fun?, Outdoor Methods for Building Relationships, etc. As befits the project, we immediately implemented the acquired knowledge in practice. In the beautiful surroundings of Lake Jasna, teachers (the majority of participants in the training) once again became students and collaborated on biology, geography, mathematics, English classes, and more.

We concluded the training program with a visit to the Francet Prešeren Primary School and Francet Prešeren Gymnasium in Kranj, where we provided our Norwegian colleagues with a more detailed insight into our school system.

The multipliers training program was very successful and an important step towards the development of outdoor learning in Slovenia. Participants gained valuable knowledge and experience that they will be able to use in their work and contribute to the development of outdoor learning in their communities.
