The Eco-Museum of the Pivka Karst Field represents the extraordinary world of the Pivka Karst Field, which serves as an important habitat for numerous animal and plant species.
The guide led us into the stunning karst world of seventeen intermittent lakes – there are nowhere else in the world so many of them in such a small area. Sometimes lake basins, other times colorful meadows – the Pivka lakes always offer beautiful views, and we also learned about the fascinating stories associated with them.
Then we headed to Petelinje Lake, which is the second-largest intermittent lake in the Pivka region. It retains water the longest compared to others.
Even on the way to the viewpoint, beautiful views of Sv. Trojica, the home of our legendary hero Martin Krpan, unfolded. Through the interpretation of the local guide, we learned about many other characteristics of the landscape.
