EXPLORING LONDON

The students of the Gymnasium France Prešerna spent four wonderful days in London in September. They experienced it in beautiful weather and abnormally high temperatures for London. On the very first day, they walked across the Millennium Bridge to the second largest cathedral in the world, St. Paul’s Cathedral. The day ended at lively Leicester Square, where they could watch street buskers.

What followed were two days full of sight-seeing, from the Lodon Eye, a boat ride on the River Thames, a visit to the new financial center Canary Wharf, a walk under the River Thames, the official East-West Crossing at the Zero Meridian to meeting celebrities at the wax museum, Madame Tussauds. The next day they spent the morning visiting the museums. They could visit the Natural History and Science Museum. In the afternoon they enjoyed emptying their wallets in Camden and Oxford Street. The second evening ended at the highest skyscraper, the Shard, and a panoramic view of Tower Bridge, the City and the Tower of London.

On the last day, they knocked on the king’s door, but unfortunately he was not at home. Of course, the royal guard was protecting him as always. The students watched the changing of the royal guard live and could hardly imagine how hot it was for the royal guards under all their uniforms and black bear-skin caps.

Full of unforgettable experiences and knowledge about London the students returned to home-made beef soup and exchanged it for fast food.
